The Dodge Charger is a rarity here in the Netherlands for several reasons, but the insane BPM you pay for it is one of them. Let the next one also become fully electric… that offers opportunities.
There is little market for American muscle cars in our country, mainly because they are hit quite hard by the BPM. For example, look at the new Ford Mustang, for which you pay at least €75,000 bpm. The big culprit is of course the large power source and the CO2 emissions that come with it. However, the new Dodge Charger is also available with a fully electric powertrain, which makes it the opportunity to market the muscle car more in the Netherlands.
At the time of writing, there is no definitive answer from Dodge itself about whether or not it will be offered through official channels in the Netherlands. AutoWeek is still awaiting a response, but we understand that the question has now been sent to the head office. If we receive clarity, we will add to this message. It will also be possible to buy the Charger new in a Dutch showroom without Dodge offering the Charger itself, because AutoWeek understands that Kien Automotive expects it in the showroom in the first quarter of 2025. In the US, the electric Charger will reportedly cost around €50,000.
