Setting a unique ringtone is a fun way to make your iPhone a little more personal. But how exactly do you do that?
This is how you change the ringtone on your iPhone
On your iPhone you can choose which ringtone you want to use. You also have the option to set a different ringtone for certain people, so that you can immediately hear who is calling you. Notifications can also be adjusted to your own taste. We’ll show you how to do this.
Change the default ringtone
The default ringtone of an iPhone is always the same and that can be quite confusing when you have a lot of people with iPhones around you. Fortunately, changing is very easy. You do this as follows:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap ‘Hear & Feel’ then ‘Ringtone’;
- Choose the ringtone you want from the list.
Under ‘Hear and feel’ you will also immediately see other sounds that can be changed, such as ‘SMS tone’, ‘New email’ and ‘Standard notifications’.
Purchase ringtones
Can’t find a ringtone you like in the list on your iPhone? Then you can choose to purchase additional ringtones. To do this, tap ‘Tone Store’ above the list of ringtones. Here are all kinds of ringtones and notification tones that are available for purchase. Prices range from 0.99 to 1.29 euros.
Change ringtone for a specific contact on your iPhone
A ringtone can also be assigned to specific contacts. From now on you will immediately hear that it is that person who is calling you. This is how you set it:
- Open the Contacts app;
- Find the person in question and tap on them;
- Tap ‘Edit’ at the top right;
- Tap Ringtone, then choose a sound from the list.
- Tap Done at the top right.
If desired, you can also immediately set this so that you are always available to this person, even if the ringtone on your iPhone is muted. Then turn on the switch behind ‘Always on for emergencies’.
