Kia EV3 is coming: Kia’s answer to Volvo EX30

Kia is about to join several successful compact EVs with a purely electric model. The Kia EV3 enters the battle and apparently does so with some familiar facial features.

In the market for a car like the Volvo EX30, Peugeot e-2008 and the Jeep Avenger? Then put a big red circle around May 23, because then another option will appear on the scene. On that day, Kia will present the Kia EV3. The little brother of the EV5, EV6 and EV9 seems to get rid of quite a bit of the latter. At least that is evident from the first three teaser photos that Kia presents us with. The headlight we see is very similar to that of the EV5 and EV9, the rear light has a lot of EV9 in it. This is not a surprise, because the concept version of the Kia EV3 was also, in short, a kind of hot-washed EV9.

The Kia EV3, like its EV brothers, is on the modular E-GMP basis and so we can count on well-known technology. Logically, the EV3 is also a more capable EV in terms of range and charging speed than the Kia e-Niro, which can expect some domestic competition due to the arrival of the EV3. However, Kia will mainly want to make life difficult for the Volvo EX30, among others, and previously indicated that it is aiming for an (international) starting price of €33,000. We will hear and see more on May 23, but don’t be surprised if a hint of the veil is lifted before then.
