iOS 17.5 is out: this is how you get the update
There are a few new features in iOS 17.5, but you naturally want to download and install the update on your iPhone as soon as possible. You will find the latest iOS version under ‘Settings > General > Software update’. There you can then choose whether you want to download the update immediately or update the iPhone overnight.
New features iOS 17.5
There isn’t really much new with iOS 17.5. There’s a new feature that will come in handy when your iPhone needs to be repaired. This new feature is called ‘Repair State’. If you normally have to send your iPhone to Apple to have it repaired, you must first take care of a number of things. With iOS 17.5, this is no longer the case. Instead, simply activate the new Repair State feature and send in the iPhone.
The update to iOS 17.5 also comes with a new Pride wallpaper. Every year, Apple releases a new Pride watch face for the iPhone (and Apple Watch). This year too, a new, colorful background will be added to the ever-expanding collection.
Since iOS 17.4, third-party app stores are also allowed on Apple’s iPhone. In the latest update you no longer need an online store at all. Instead, you can also download applications to your iPhone via an internet browser.
There are also minor changes in the update to iOS 17.5. A few examples: The podcast app widget has received a minor update. This now makes it look more like the Apple Music widget. In addition, the Books app has a new icon for your reading goals.
iOS 18 is on its way
This is probably one of the last updates for iOS 17. There is a chance that iOS 17.6 will come, but it will not be a major update. Apple will present iOS 18 in June and major changes are expected in this major next update.
