We are eagerly awaiting the final release of iOS 18. But Apple has already started developing iOS 19.
Apple has already started working on iOS 19 (and this is the code name)
In early June, during WWDC 2024, Apple announced iOS 18 and the same day you could try out the first beta of the latest operating system for the iPhone. But iOS 18 is already old news, because Apple has already started developing iOS 19. Strikingly enough, the code name of the new operating system has also been leaked.
According to the news site Bloomberg, iOS 19 is not the only new operating system that Apple has already started working on. macOS 16, watchOS 12 and VisionOS 3 are also in the pipeline. All this new software is planned for 2025.
Usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman also says that Apple has started “development of every major operating system by 2025.” That sounds pretty early, actually, but Gurman says that Apple always starts development of its next operating systems around this time.
According to Gurman, Apple has not only given iOS 19 a codename. macOS 16, watchOS 12 and visionOS 3 also have their own internal name. We have listed them for you below.
- iOS 19: ‘Luck’;
- macOS 16: ‘Cheer’;
- watchOS 12: ‘Nepali’;
- visionOS 3: ‘Discovery’.
But first: iOS 18
Before iOS 19 comes, it’s iOS 18’s turn first. One of the biggest changes in iOS 18 is Apple Intelligence. In iOS 18 you can ask for help from an artificial intelligence, which Apple renames us, with almost all apps Apple Intelligence. Want to know more about this new AI technology?
