Apple Watch Series 9 vs Series 10: These are the features you need to switch to

The Apple Watch Series 10 is coming out next week and will bring a number of features not yet seen on the Apple Watch Series 9. Here are the differences!

Apple Watch Series 10

It’s September and that means we’re going to see a lot of new Apple products this month. The iPhone 16 is coming monday september 9th presented, but that’s not all. That evening we will also see the new iPad (mini) and the Apple Watches of 2024. The expectations for the Apple Watch Series 10 (or Apple Watch X) are high, because it is exactly ten years ago that the first generation of the smartwatch was unveiled.

So Apple is celebrating an anniversary, which means we can expect a lot of new features on the Apple Watch Series 10. Are you planning to buy this year’s new smartwatch? We list the most important changes between the Apple Watch Series 9 and the Apple Watch Series 10 for you!

1. Larger housing

Apple is changing the casing of the Apple Watch for the first time in years. The Apple Watch Series 10 lets you choose between 45 or 49 millimeters, a size larger than the Apple Watch Series 9. The current generation of the smartwatch lets you choose between 41 and 45 millimeters. The Apple Watch Series 10 will be the same size as the Apple Watch Ultra (2 or 3), meaning you no longer need to get an Ultra for a larger display.

2. More efficient OLED screen

The Apple Watch Series 10 not only gets a larger display, the screen is also improved. Apple introduces a new type of OLED screen, which is equipped with LTPO (low temperature polycrystalline oxide). With this new technology, the quality of the screen is higher, without affecting the battery life. This way, the Apple Watch Series 10 gets a better display than the Apple Watch Series 9, but we do not see that reflected in the battery life of the smartwatch.

3. S10 chip (with AI functions)

A major change under the hood is the S10 chip in the Apple Watch Series 10. The Apple Watch Series 9 runs on the S9 chip, which has to do without support for Apple Intelligence. It is expected that the tenth generation of the Apple Watch will be expanded with (some of) the new AI functions by the S10 chip. For example, the updated version of Siri will probably work with the new Apple Watch.

Apple introduces a number of health functions with the Apple Watch Series 10. The smartwatch is expanded with a blood pressure monitor, so that excessively high values are detected in time.
