With watchOS 11, Apple has introduced a new app on the Apple Watch: Vital Signs. With this app, the Apple Watch records various data while sleeping, such as heart rate, respiratory rate, wrist temperature and saturation. This will give you a better insight into your daily health status. The Vital Signs app is available in watchOS 11, starting with the Apple Watch Series 8.

However, some users have noticed something interesting with the new app. According to several posts on Redditthe Apple Watch can predict when you will become ill.

One user says he used the app during the beta and has gotten sick twice since then. Both times, thanks to the Apple Watch, he knew in advance that something was wrong and that he might become ill. While he still felt completely fine at that moment.

Another user shared a screenshot showing various data from his Vital Signs app. He said that he didn’t feel quite 100 percent at the time. In the evening it turned out to have gotten worse and he was sick.

The responses also included owners of an Apple Watch who had not received a notification and later became ill. So it seems that the Apple Watch cannot predict whether every user will become ill. Apple does say that the Vital Signs app on the Apple Watch is not designed to predict illness.
