Minor changes in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 (#3)

iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 include several major changes, new features and capabilities. This includes the brand new control panel, personalize home screen, new Photos app, extensions for calculator, passwords application and much more. In addition, iOS 18 also contains a lot of small changes that benefit daily use.

This includes reminders in Calendar, new iCloud overview, changing Siri’s name, silent mode for CarPlay and more. Below you’ll find the first part of even more minor changes in iOS 18 and iPadOS 18.

Action button expanded

Apple has added new tasks that can be activated with the action button. From now on you can also link and use controls from the control panel. This has further expanded the standard options. To do this, go to Settings â–¸ Action button â–¸ Controls.

External hard drive

Apple has expanded support for external hard drives. From now on you can connect and use APFS, exFAT and FAT32 drives to your iPhone or iPad. You can also erase an external hard drive from the Files app for the first time. Connect the hard drive, place your finger on the drive in the Files app and choose ‘Erase’.

Zoom in Calendar

From iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 you can use a new monthly view in Calendar. When you use the compact, stacked or details view, you can zoom in and out to show more parts in the calendar.

Button animations

Since iOS 18, you will notice that when you press buttons, an animation appears on the screen. Try it with a volume knob. When pressed, a black shadow appears in the extension of the button. This way you can also see on the screen whether pressing or holding a button works.
