Apple adjusts iPhone 17 Pro again (and deletes this change)

The iPhone 17 Pro (Max) was rumored to be getting a major design change, but it looks like Apple has scrapped the plans. We already know this.

Design of the iPhone 17 Pro (Max)

Apple is planning the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max for next year. Like every year, Apple provides the new generation of iPhones with a new processor, in 2025 we will probably see the A19 Pro chip. That’s not all, because rumors predicted that the design of the iPhone would be completely different next year. We would mainly see these changes in the design of the camera island on the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max have three lenses, which are placed in a triangle. This design would be adjusted for the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, as rumors predicted that the three lenses would be horizontally next to each other. That is a big change, but Apple now appears to be scrapping this idea for the iPhone 17 Pro (Max). The company is reportedly sticking to the design of the iPhone 16 Pro (Max).

Same camera island, different material

According to Instant Digital Apple has again opted for a square camera island with the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. The three lenses are again placed in a triangle, the same design that Apple has used since the iPhone 11 Pro. That does not mean that we see no change in the design of the iPhone 17 Pro (Max), because the back of the housing is made of both aluminum and glass.

On the current Pro models, the back is still completely made of glass. This will change with the iPhone 17 Pro (Max), the upper part of the back will be made of aluminum. It is not yet known why Apple chooses this, it may have to do with new sensors in the device. The bottom part consists of glass, so that the device can charge wirelessly.

More about the iPhone 17 Pro (Max)

At the front we see another important change with the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to rumors, Apple is working on a new Face ID sensor that disappears under the screen. As a result, the Dynamic Island will become a bit smaller on the next iPhones. The feature currently still has an elongated shape, but the island becomes more compact on the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This way you have more space on the screen.

Other changes expected with the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) are a 24-megapixel front camera, 12 GB of RAM and a 48-megapixel tetraprism lens. The iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max are the first iPhones with no fewer than three 48-megapixel cameras.
