Watchos 11.3.1
It’s time to update again! In addition to iOS 18.3.1 and iPados 18.3.1, Apple also released an update for the Apple Watch. With Watchos 11.3.1 there are no new functions to the smartwatch, but Apple focuses on solving important security problems. These problems occur since Watchos 11.3, making it important to install the update as quickly as possible.
Apple has released Watchos 11.3.1 for the Apple Watch Series 6 and Nieuwerer, the Apple Watch Ultra (2) and the Apple Watch SE 2022. The company only releases interim updates with major software problems. Apple has not (yet) said what exactly is being resolved with the update. It is probably about problems with the protection of the smartwatch, so it is recommended to install the update immediately. We explain how you do that.
Update Apple Watch
Do you have an Apple Watch Series 6 or newer? Then there is another update ready for you. You will not find new software versions for the Apple Watch on the smartwatch itself, but on your iPhone. With updates such as Watchos 11.3.1, it is wise to update as quickly as possible, so that you are sure that the security of the Apple Watch is completely in order again. This is how you install the update:
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone;
- Go to ‘General’;
- Tap ‘software update’;
- Download Watchos 11.3.1 and finally choose ‘Install’.
You can’t just install Watchos 11.3.1 on your Apple Watch. To put the latest software version on the smartwatch, the device must be charged at least fifty percent and be on the charger. That’s not all, because your Apple Watch must stay within the reach of your iPhone to update. The iPhone must be connected to a Wifin network at that time, so that the new Watchos version can be installed.

With Watchos 11.3.1, Apple does not bring new functions to the Apple Watch. With Watchos 11 that happened, that was the big update for Smartwatch in 2024. Apple introduced the Vitals app on your Apple Watch with the new Watchos generation. In this new application you see the most important health values, such as your heart rate, respiratory frequency and your pole temperature.
In addition, Watchos brought 11 training tax to the Apple Watch and the activity rings are more adaptable. In the meantime, all new functions of Watchos 11 are available on the Apple Watch, which means that the following new features only come to the smartwatch with Watchos 12. That update only appears in the fall. In the meantime, Apple still releases small updates to keep the security of the Apple Watch in order, just as with Watchos 11.3.1 is the case.
