Apple cards has a handy new feature
You can Apple cards use to navigate, but also for discovering new areas. That is useful if you want to see where you go on vacation, for example. The latter has become a lot easier in iOS 18 thanks to a handy new function of Apple cards.
If you were planning a holiday in Apple cards so far, you always bumped into a specific problem. Viewing shops and restaurants in the area was no problem. But if you typed a search and tapped ‘Search in the neighborhood’, you always got search results near the place where you were actually. And so not from the place you were looking at.
New search function in iOS 18
In iOS 18, Apple cards has received a solution to this problem with a new position. If you can now browse of cards through an area and type a search, you will not only see the ‘search in the neighborhood’ option, but also the new option: ‘Close to the area on the card’.
If, as in the example above, you explore an area and you type ‘coffee bars’, then you will receive two proposed searches:
- Coffee bars: Search in the neighborhood
- Coffee bars: close to the area on the map
The first works as always, the second carries the same search on the place you are exploring. Even if you have already entered a search and then go to another area on the menu, you can now tap the ‘Search’ here.
These new options make the search for places all over the world just as easy as searching for places in your area. It took a while, but the new function has made Apple cards a bit better again.
