WhatsApp has introduced its own chat, which stands between your conversations as standard. Don’t you want that? This way you remove the conversation from your list.
WhatsApp introduces Chat
Do you regularly use WhatsApp? Then there is a good chance that you will receive a new chat with the messaging service. WhatsApp introduces its own chat, in which the company gives tips about the application. This conversation with the official WhatsApp account is automatically added to your list of all chats. You can recognize the official WhatsApp account on the blue verified badge next to the company name.
The new conversation with the official WhatsApp account looks the same as all conversations with your other contacts. The only difference is that you cannot send messages yourself in the conversation. So you only receive messages with tips, announcements and new functions in the chat. Do you not want that and do you want to keep the list of all chats as clear as possible? We explain how you remove the conversation.
This is how you remove the conversation
Have you recently started a chat with the official WhatsApp account? Then you regularly receive messages with tips or new functions from WhatsApp. If you are not waiting for that at all, there are different ways to stop the conversation. It depends on your personal preference. Do you find it useful to stay informed of announcements and new functions, but do you not want the conversation in your list of all chats? Then you can delete the conversation as follows:
- Open ‘WhatsApp’ on your iPhone;
- Scroll to the chat with the official WhatsApp account;
- Wipe the chat to the left;
- Tap ‘more’;
- Finally, choose ‘Remove Chat’.
Have you followed these steps? Then the chat is no longer between all other conversations. Please note, because the content of the conversation is therefore deleted. If you want to look back on the tips and announcements later, it is wiser to archive the chat with WhatsApp. You do that by wiping the chat to the left and tapping ‘archive’. That way the conversation is not in your list, but the chat is stored between your archived conversations.

Do you no longer want to receive messages from WhatsApp? In that case you can better block the official account of WhatsApp. This way you prevent you from receiving unwanted messages from the company later. To block the account, go to the chat with WhatsApp and tap ‘WhatsApp’ at the top. Then scroll down and tap ‘Block WhatsApp’, so that you no longer get any messages from the account.
Blocking the WhatsApp account has no consequences for other chats or functions in the app. Do you doubt whether you are dealing with the real account of WhatsApp? You can recognize the chat by the blue check mark behind ‘WhatsApp’. It is also not possible to send messages in the conversation. So whatsapp never asks for your personal information.
