Gurman expects the new processor to be the most important change with the iPad Pro 2025. That is not very surprising, because the tablet will have a completely new design in 2024. The iPad Pro 2024 is much narrower than previous versions, making the Apple’s thinnest device ever. This renewed design is reflected in the iPad Pro 2025, the tablet becomes very thin and light again.

M5 chip

We see the most important improvement with the iPad Pro 2025 under the hood. The device is said to run on the M5 chip. This new processor has not yet been released, the iPad Pro 2025 may be the first device with this chip. The M5 chip is probably faster and more powerful than the current M4 chip. As a result, heavy programs run even faster, especially if several applications are used at the same time.

It is still unclear which more improvements come to the iPad Pro 2025. The tablet may only get a new processor and it is a small update. We already saw a similar update at the iPad Air 2025 this year, which also only received a new chip. The new M5 chip is probably more energy efficient, which means that the iPad Pro 2025 has an improved battery life.

We still have to wait a while for the iPad Pro 2025, because the tablet only comes at the end of the year. Apple is currently carrying out the last test rounds with the iPad Pro 2025. According to Gurman, that is going according to plan, in the second half of 2025 the production of the tablet starts. The official release of the iPad Pro 2025 follows in the fall, as Apple probably also announces the MacBook Pro 2025.

So just patience, because the iPad Pro 2025 only appears in October or November.
