Apple would radically renew the design of the iPhone in the coming generations every year and that means this for the iPhone 17 and 18.
iPhone 17 and 18 get a new design
According to the well-known Weibo user ‘Digital Chat Station‘Apple is planning to make a series of design changes on the iPhone. And in three consecutive years: 2025, 2026 and 2027. The changes are reportedly aimed at the camera system on the back, the parts at the front and ultimately the complete removal of visible sensors. This must then lead to a full screen -filling experience.
The iPhone 17 will probably be on the market in September and is therefore the first in this series of design changes. The expectation is that Apple will re-design the back of the iPhone 17, with a new horizontal camera island as the most striking change. This is the first major update on the camera module at the back since the iPhone 11 Pro.

Next year the front
After the iPhone 17, the iPhone 18 in 2026 will pay attention to the front of the device. It is expected that Apple will remove the Dynamic Island-the pill-shaped cut-out in which the front camera and Face ID components have been placed since the iPhone 14 Pro. It is then replaced by a single round cut-out for the selfie camera. The Face ID components are hidden under the screen.
Apple apparently wants to have a completely uninterrupted screen in 2027 without visible recesses, holes or notches. This means that not only the Face ID components, but also the selfie camera are placed under the screen. For example, Apple wants to create a ‘full-screen’ iPhone.
It is not yet clear whether these design changes are limited to the PRO models, or whether they apply to the entire iPhone series. In the past, Apple introduced new screen and camera techniques to high-end models. In the following years they only appeared on the standard iPhones. For example, we saw the Dynamic Island for the first time on the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022 and only a year later on the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus. In any case, we are really looking forward to the iPhone 17 and 18.
