Apple will soon present the most important software versions of the year! On Monday, June 9 at 7 p.m. (Dutch time) the company announces updates for the iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Apple TV, Mac (book) and the Apple Vision Pro. It was expected that iOS 19 would appear, but according to rumors, Apple opts for a complete new name. After iOS 18, Apple immediately switches to iOS 26.
Apple introduces a similar name for all operating systems. This week we will also see iPados 26, Watchos 26, MacOS 26, TVOS 26 and Visionos 26. Now the names of all software versions are still far apart, but that will soon change. Major changes
With iOS 26, Apple is making major changes, certainly in comparison with iOS 18. According to rumors, the company is working on a completely new design, which is based on Visionos. That means that we can expect more transparent frameworks and glass elements in the operating system for the iPhone. That’s not all, because Apple probably also adjusts the symbols of all applications.
Apple may also opt for a new form of all apps on the iPhone’s home screen. These are in iOS 18 square, but are reportedly around (er) in iOS 26. In Visionos we already see round symbols, which will probably come to all Apple devices with the new software versions. The new design of iOS 26 is also being implemented in a number of re-arranged apps, including the agenda and camera app.
Release of iOS 26
In addition to the new naming and interface, iOS 26 gets more features, because Apple Intelligence will be available in more languages this year. In iOS 18 the Dutch version of Apple Intelligence is not yet available, but with iOS 26 that may be the case. It is expected that the new AI positions will be rolled out in Dutch later this year. In addition, Siri is expanded with more language models, so that the voice assistant naturally communicates.
