After the TCR racer, Seats sporty and sister brand Cupra, which has been released for a few years now, also announces the arrival of a street-legal Cupra Leon. A scoop, because for the first time the sportiest version of the mid-sized car carries the Cupra logo.
Since the very first generation of the Leon, Seat comes with a more extreme version in the form of a Leon Cupra. Since two years, Cupra has stood on its own two feet as a sporting brand next to Seat. For example, the brand has since been driving its own Cupra Ateca. A personal version of the brand new Leon will be added to the range on 20 February.
This happens simultaneously with the opening of Cupra’s new headquarters. In one fell swoop, the Cupra Leon is presented as a hatchback and as a Sportstourer. In all likelihood there will be several versions, because Seat reports that “there will also be a version with a plug-in hybrid powertrain”. The outgoing Leon Cupra, from Seat still, received a standard of at least 290 hp. Although the photo is somewhat shadowy, it gives a nice picture of what is to come. In addition to the bronze-colored Cupra logo, the large air intakes in the front bumper stand out immediately. The well-known “Rodium” gray coat color seems to have been chosen as the debut color.
