Calculator in iOS 26
Do you regularly use the calculator app on your iPhone? In that case we have good news, because Apple brings a popular function back to the calculator. IOS 26 appears soon, which is the largest software update of 2025 for the iPhone. Almost all Apple applications are adjusted in iOS 26, including the calculator app. This gets a small improvement, because Apple reduces the commonly used AC key.
It is striking that Apple adds the button to the calculator again, because in iOS 18 it disappeared from the calculator app. Instead, the plus or minut key came, with which you make a number positive or negative. You probably use this button much less often in practice than the AC key. In iOS 26, Apple therefore adjusts the function again, the AC button will return to the calculator on the iPhone.
This is how the button works
Do you regularly solve calculations with the calculator app on your iPhone? Then you get a handy function in iOS 26. The AC key stands for All Clear And is intended to remove a complete calculation in one go. This button turns into the C button as soon as you have started a calculation. With the Clear-Wnop you remove one number. Do you press the test again? Then the calculation disappears as a whole.
Apple does not remove the Plus and Minknop from the calculator app on the iPhone. This will be given a new place and can be found at the bottom left of the calculator from iOS 26. In iOS 18 there is still the button for scientific calculations, but in iOS 26 it gets its own place at the top right of the picture. This way you can still easily make a number positive or negative, without it being at the expense of the AC button.
Release of iOS 26
The adjusted layout of the calculator app on the iPhone is part of iOS 26. Furthermore, there are virtually no changes to the calculator. Apple is making the same changes on the iPad with the calculator with iPados 26. We don’t have to wait long for the new software versions, because iOS 26 and iPados 26 will appear in a few weeks.
