Ducati recalls Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4: rear axle can break

September 2023 Ducati received a first report of a problem with a motorcycle. In the period September – November An extensive analysis was immediately started, not only of this specific case, but also of all warranty claims, early warnings and individual reports, as well as an analysis of new components. This analysis did not result in similar cases, so the incident was classified as a single case.

November 2023 – August 2025after new reports from foreign markets, a further investigation was carried out. Each individual case of problems with the rear wheel axis was analyzed.

The internal analysis turned out to be complex, because external factors played a part, such as correct maintenance when tensioning the secondary transmission and/or replacement by wear, including the correct tightening of the Exercenter bolts of the wheel hub and the crown nut. There were several FEM analyzes executed to investigate the influence of these factors on the defect.

February 2024 – August 2025 Multiple tests took place on internal and external dynamic fatigue sofas (five different test benches), with various components and varying loads, including too tight and too loose of parts.

Although these tests, taxes and circumstances that are well exceeded by the real tax on the section, Ducati could not reproduce the problem.

June 2024 It was decided to take a new, more robust part in production, in line with the current state of technology. This stronger rear axle was introduced in June 2024, even though the failure was not fully understood at that time.

Because the tests conducted were not decisive, Ducati decided to perform a field test.

September 2024 It was decided to perform a core test on a fleet of motorcycles in selected markets, in which a considerable number of highly taxed components were replaced and analyzed to verify their state.

July 2025 Ducati carried out a series of internal engine tests on the circuit, with instrumentation on the rear wheel axis. That same month it was also decided to terminate the sample collection and to analyze all collected parts to come to conclusions.

Be in total Worldwide 11 cases analyzed, plus 3 fallen From the sample (these did not concern complete fractures, but early stages of the problem).

Due to the increase in the number of reports, the internal safety committee from Ducati Motor Holding on August 26, 2025as a precaution and on the basis of all research data and sample results, a global recall to start for the affected engines

The recall relates to the following models:
– Panigale V4 2018-2024
– Panigale V4 S 2018-2024
– Panigale V4 SL 2020-2021
– Panigale V4 R 2019-2024
– Streetfighter V4 2020-2022
– Streetfighter 2023-2025

At the Ducati dealer, the rear axle will be replaced by a more robust copy.
