The screen of the iPhone 17 has – literally – received a large upgrade. These are the most important changes with the new display!

Apple has announced the iPhone 17 series! All new iPhones are equipped with advanced functions and improved displays. Both the regular iPhone 17 and the iPhone 17 Pro (Max) have an improved screen. 1. IPhone 17

The iPhone 17 has a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display. That is a stroke larger than the screen of the iPhone 16, which still had a size of 6.1 inches. The most important change with the new screen of the iPhone 17 is the support for promotion, giving the display a refresh rate of 120 Hz. For comparison: with the iPhone 16 that was half with 60 Hz. You don’t have to worry about scratches, because the iPhone 17 can stand scratches much better due to the Ceramic Shield 2-glass.

Promotion has been exclusively for the PRO models in recent years, but the iPhone 17 changes that. The regular iPhone will have an Always-on screen for the first time in 2025, so that time always remains visible on the screen. This is especially an advantage if you activate the standby mode, which turns your iPhone into a full alarm clock. The screen has a high peak clearness of 3000 Nits, so you can also read the phone in bright sunlight.

2. IPhone Air

The thinnest iPhone ever has a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display. Just like the iPhone 17, this screen has a refresh rate of 120 Hz, with an energy -efficient 1 Hz as the lowest. That means that the iPhone Air also has support for promotion, so that animations on the screen work smoothly. With a peak clearance of 3000 Nits, the display remains clearly visible with bright ambient light.

The iPhone Air has Ceramic Shield 2-glass on the front, which has several advantages. The strong glass is more resistant to scratches, according to Apple even up to 3x better than previous displays. In addition, Ceramic Shield 2 provides fewer reflections on the screen. The iPhone 17 and iPhone Air therefore have almost the same screens, but the display with the iPhone Air is a blow larger.

3. IPhone 17 Pro (Max)

With the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max we see similar screens as with the iPhone 17 and the iPhone Air. Both pro models have Ceramic Shield 2-glass, which should better protect the devices against scratches and other damage. The peak clearance lies with the best iPhones of 2025 on 3000 Nits, but can be lowered to the more energy -efficient 1 nit. The Pro models traditionally have support for promotion and are equipped with an always-on screen.

With a 6.3-inch screen, the iPhone 17 Pro has the same size as the iPhone 17. With the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the display is larger, that device has a 6.9-inch display. It is therefore the most advanced and largest iPhone of the year. With the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max, we also see the Ceramic Shield 2-glass at the rear, with which the phone is 4x better protected against scratches than earlier iPhones.

We see a number of long-awaited improvements with the screen of the iPhone 17, because the regular model finally has an always-on screen with promotion.
