Meta does not want you to know this cool Instagram function-that’s how it works!

There is an Instagram function that Meta has added, but has hidden for users so far-we show how you use it.

Meta does not want you to know this Instagram function

A new Instagram function appears with some regularity. In general, that does not happen quietly, but there is a function that Meta has tucked away quite a bit. This function is extra interesting now that Meta is a lawsuit of Bits of Freedom has lost. That was because Bits of Freedom believes that users should be able to opt for a chronological timeline on Instagram and Facebook more easily.

In the distant past, the timelines of Instagram and Facebook were all chronological. You saw messages from those you follow appear in the order that they were posted. The current timeline of Instagram is called ‘for you’ and is by no means chronological. Meta itself says that in this timeline the most interesting messages are at the top, but it is just a order based on your click behavior (or ticking behavior). The company must now do this from the judge Adjust for Dutch users within two weeks.

This is how you use the function

There is currently an Instagram function that ensures that your timeline is put on chronologically. And that is easier to use than you think. It works as follows:

  • Open the Instagram app;
  • Tap ‘For you’ at the top left;
  • Tap ‘following’.

You now see immediately that your timeline is changing. Messages are again displayed in chronological order as usual.

However, the judge does not find this option sufficient. Your choice for ‘next’ does not remain, which means that you have to turn on the Instagram function every time you open the app again.

Facebook

In Facebook, Meta uses a similar timeline as in Instagram. Only the option to change this is tucked away much further. Too far to actually use in practice. Fortunately, the judge has stipulated that Meta must adjust both the timeline in Facebook and in Instagram, within two weeks.

Meta says he does not agree with the decision and appeals. That usually takes longer than two weeks, so we will soon expect new updates for Facebook and Instagram. Do you not want to miss anything from the further developments? Then register for our newsletter!
