Are you still unsure between Spotify and Apple Music? For these five reasons, Spotify is much better than Apple’s music service!
Spotify better than Apple Music
Do you regularly listen to music or podcasts on your iPhone? In that case, there is a good chance that you have a subscription to Spotify or Apple Music, because these are the music services of the moment. You can use the latter for free for three months when purchasing a new Apple product, which means that after the release of the iPhone 17, it is time to compare the two services. We’ve been using Spotify and Apple Music for a few weeks now and a clear winner has emerged. For these five reasons, Spotify is much better than Apple Music.
Overview
1. Free version
Are you looking for the cheapest music service of the moment? In that case, you don’t have to hesitate for long, because Spotify offers a free subscription. In the free version of Spotify you will hear advertisements, but you can listen to your favorite music for free. With Apple Music you do not have that option, because you can only use the music service for a fee.
Please note, because the free version of Spotify lacks many important functions. For example, you can’t download songs and listen offline, you can’t edit your queue, and you can’t shuffle songs. Still, it is an advantage that Spotify is free to use, not everyone can afford multiple subscriptions per month. In addition, this is a good option if you sometimes want to listen to music without being immediately tied to a paid subscription.

2. More features
The differences between Spotify and Apple Music become even clearer when you look at the features that both music services offer. With Spotify you get many more features than with Apple Music. For example, Spotify makes it possible to send direct messages to each other, so that you can easily share songs or albums with other users. Apple Music lacks this option, so you need another application to share music.
Would you like to make a playlist together? Then Blend is a handy and exclusive feature in Spotify, which combines the music tastes of you and your friends in a joint list. Furthermore, Spotify now offers the Mixing Tool, which is more advanced than Apple’s AutoMix. At the end of the year, Spotify provides a musical overview in the form of Spotify Wrapped, which is also much more extensive than Apple Music Replay. These features distinguish Spotify from Apple Music.

3. Public playlists
Perhaps the biggest advantage of Spotify is the enormous community that can be found on the music service. Not only can you communicate with other users more easily, but also listen to their playlists. Spotify has many public playlists, so you can find a suitable music list for almost any moment. The same applies the other way around, because you can also make your own playlists public.
The public playlists can be listened to by all users on Spotify. Are you looking for music for a specific moment? Then simply use the search function in Spotify, the results are endless. That’s a big difference between Spotify and Apple Music, because with the latter you have far fewer playlists to choose from. This is a big loss, especially if you have been following other users’ music lists in Spotify for some time.

4. Podcasts and audiobooks
Do you regularly listen to podcasts? Then Spotify is also the right application for you. At Spotify you can choose from a large number of podcasts, which you can find in the same place as your favorite music. You can search for podcasts or watch the most popular episodes under the ‘Podcasts’ tab on Spotify. Apple Music does not offer podcasts, instead you need a separate application.
The same applies to audio books, which you can also find in Spotify. Based on your listening profile, Spotify even recommends audiobooks, so you’re more likely to find a particular book that suits you. Apple Music has to make do without audiobooks, instead you have to install Apple’s Books app. With Spotify you get all the music, podcasts and audiobooks in one place, while with Apple you can find all the components in different applications.

5. Recommendations for new music
Spotify recommends audiobooks based on your previous listening behavior, but that’s not all. Your listening profile is also used to recommend new music. Do you want to discover new music? In that case, Spotify has many advantages that Apple Music does not have. For example, Spotify offers you personalized playlists every week, based on your music taste. You can see this in lists such as Discover Weekly and Release Radar.
Especially if you are looking for new music, these are fun lists to listen to every week. These playlists show songs that match music you have played previously. Do you regularly listen to the same artists? New music from these artists also appears in these playlists, so you won’t miss a single song. Spotify therefore makes many more and more personal recommendations for new music than Apple Music.

More about Spotify
Spotify has many advantages that you miss with Apple Music. You get more personal recommendations for new music, can choose from many more public playlists and see an overview of your musical year in Spotify Wrapped. With Spotify you also have your favorite songs, albums, podcasts and audiobooks bundled in one application, while with Apple you need different apps for these components.
Are you still unsure which music service you want to choose? Both Spotify and Apple Music allow you to take out a free trial subscription so that you can try out the apps first. Be sure to cancel this trial subscription in time, because it will automatically be converted into a paid subscription after a certain period of time.
