Apple has released five new iPhones in 2025, one of which is still by far the least popular of them all – here’s what you need to know.
This iPhone from 2025 is the least popular
In 2025, Apple released five new iPhones, starting with the iPhone 16e in February. The iPhone 17, the iPhone Air, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max were then released in September. One of these iPhones that came out in 2025 was unpopular from the start and that is still the case today. In any case, it is not the iPhone 16e.
The Japanese investment bank and stockbroker Mizuho Securities claims that the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max achieve higher sales figures than their predecessors in the same period last year. The same message also states that the standard iPhone 17 is a great success and performs a lot better than the iPhone 16 a year ago.

iPhone Air sales are disappointing
So the iPhone Air is apparently the exception and the least popular of all new iPhones in 2025. Apple plans to reduce production of the iPhone Air by a million units this year. At the same time, Apple wants to increase production of all other models by two million units. The total production forecast for the iPhone 17 series for this year has also been increased, from 88 million units to 94 million units by the beginning of 2026.
In one another report it is claimed that Samsung is planning to release a successor to its own iPhone Air rival (the Galaxy S25 Edge) has canceled due to disappointing sales. Despite this, the iPhone Air sold out in China within hours.
The same report from Mizuho Securities revealed details about Apple’s first foldable iPhone and other future devices. We expect a foldable iPhone in September 2026. If you want to stay informed about this, sign up for our newsletter!
