The iPhone Air has sold so poorly so far that Apple has decided to postpone the launch of the next generation for the time being.
Apple has postponed the iPhone Air 2
According to The Information Apple recently informed engineers and suppliers that it has pulled the next iPhone Air from its schedule without providing a new release date. The message quotes three people involved in the project.
The second generation iPhone Air was initially expected to launch next fall alongside the iPhone 18 Pro and the iPhone Fold. According to The Information, the device would be even lighter than the current iPhone Air and have a larger battery capacity. Apple also worked on integrating the Vapor Chamber, which was first introduced on the iPhone 17 Pro. In addition, the iPhone Air 2 would also have two cameras.

Not canceled yet
Unfortunately, all these innovations are now uncertain. According to the report, Apple has not yet gone so far as to cancel the next iPhone Air. Its development would not even have stopped completely. Nevertheless, no release date has now been announced.
According to The Information, Apple has postponed the release of the iPhone Air because sales figures so far have been much lower than expected. Foxconn has already dismantled almost all production lines for the first version and expects to stop all production by the end of the month. Luxshare, Apple’s other iPhone Air production partner, has also ended production.
3 new iPhones in September
It is now expected that Apple will launch three new iPhones next fall: the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max and the iPhone Fold. The iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18e will probably follow in the spring of 2027.
It is possible that the iPhone Air 2 will receive a major redesign and still be released in the spring of 2027, together with the iPhone 18 and the iPhone 18e. Whether that is the case remains to be seen for the time being. If you don’t want to miss any of the developments, sign up for our newsletter!
