According to rumors, Tim Cook may retire next year and step down from his duties at Apple. But who will be his successor?
Rumor: Tim Cook will retire from Apple in 2026 (but who will be his successor?)
Tim Cook has worked at Apple since 1998 and has been at the helm since 2011. This was the year when the iPhone 4s appeared. But according to the Financial Times Tim Cook won’t remain Apple’s CEO for much longer. According to recent reports, the company is preparing for the departure of Tim Cook. And that might be early next year.
In an interview with the New York Times Tim Cook already indicated in 2021 that he will probably not stay at Apple for another ten years. He then made a comment and said that for the time being ‘there was no end date in sight’.

Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said at the time that Tim Cook would retire sometime between 2025 and 2028. But he said the following about the recent rumors: “I don’t get the impression that anything is going to happen in the short term.”
Who will be Tim Cook’s successor?
John Ternus is mentioned as the most likely candidate as a possible successor. Ternus is currently Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple. He started at Apple in 2001 and at 50 years old he is one of the company’s younger top executives. This could ensure that he can remain as CEO for a long period of time.

No certainty yet: Apple is keeping options open
We must make a comment. There have been no final decisions at this time to hand over the baton. It may therefore happen that Apple chooses a different route or that the transition takes a little longer.
