Zugu case review

Do you take your iPad everywhere? In that case, it is important that the tablet remains well protected everywhere and always. Zugu’s case does just that, providing 360Ëš protection against scratches, bumps and drops. Zugu has developed the case for the iPad, iPad Air, iPad Pro and iPad mini. According to the company, the iPad can withstand a fall of one and a half meters with the Zugu case. How well does the case work in practice and what is the price? 65.99 euros worth? Review Zugu case: everywhere protection for your iPad (with a handy extra)

Robust case for the iPad mini

When you take the Zugu case out of the box, you immediately notice how sturdy the case is. The case comes with thick edges and protects all sides of the iPad mini. That is a big difference with Apple’s Smart Folio, which only offers protection on the front and back of the tablet. Do you often take your iPad mini with you, for example because you travel a lot for work? Then the 360Ëš protection with the Zugu case is not an unnecessary luxury. In practice, it appears that the Zugu cover can certainly take a beating.

The Zugu cover feels very sturdy and fits perfectly around the iPad mini. While removing devices from cases can sometimes be a problem, this is not the case with the Zugu case. You can easily remove the iPad mini from the case without exerting much pressure. The disadvantage is that the iPad mini is a lot less ‘mini’ with the cover, because it is a robust case with thick edges. This is of course necessary to protect the device, but you do sacrifice the compact design of the iPad mini.

Seven magnetic positions

Zugu’s case is not only intended to protect the iPad mini, but also helps to place the small tablet. The case has no fewer than seven different positions, so you can set the right position for every situation. In practice, we notice that we mainly use three settings, but multiple options are always nice, for example, when unexpected light hits the screen. The display turns on automatically when you open the Zugu cover, which is a handy feature that we also know from Apple’s Smart Folio.

Zugu has made recesses in the cover of the case, which ensure that the stand remains in the right place. A nice extra feature of the cover is the magnetic connections, which ensure that the stand really clicks into the recesses. We are very pleased with this, because the magnetic stands are extremely sturdy. So you don’t have to worry about the iPad mini falling backwards, the magnets keep the stand firmly in place.

Space for the Apple Pencil

The iPad mini is perfect for taking notes or sketching drawings. You do need an Apple Pencil for this, but that is no problem with the Zugu case. You can attach the Apple Pencil in two places in the case. At the back you can slide the stylus into an elastic band, at the side the Apple Pencil can be magnetically clicked onto the Zugu case.

We really like these two places to store the Apple Pencil. Every place has an advantage, so the elastic at the back is the best option if you put the iPad mini with the Apple Pencil in your bag. The elastic prevents the Apple Pencil from lying around in your bag, because the stylus stays firmly in place. On the side, Zugu’s case offers the possibility to charge the Apple Pencil, so that we never have to deal with an empty stylus. Zugu has carefully thought about this, so you do not have to remove the iPad from the case to charge the Apple Pencil.

Review Zugu case for the iPad: conclusion

With the Zugu case you can be sure that the iPad (mini) remains well protected in all situations. The edges of the tablet are anything but vulnerable with the case and the case feels robust. Unfortunately, you give up the compact design of the tablet, but you get optimal protection in return. With the Zugu cover you no longer have to worry about an unexpected fall on the iPad (mini).

The design of the case has been well thought out, so there are two options for attaching the Apple Pencil and you have no fewer than seven positions to place the iPad (mini). With these seven positions there is the right position for every situation and for every type of light, because you can easily adjust the stand of the case.

The stand of the case comes with a handy extra, because you can attach it magnetically. This way, the tablet is extremely sturdy, even if you apply pressure when making drawings or notes. The ratio between price and quality is definitely worth it, making the Zugu cover a nice addition for your iPad (mini).
