Tap or swipe to activate

Tap or swipe to activate is enabled by default on iPhone X and later. Apple is trying to make it easier to wake up the iPhone’s screen with the feature. You don’t need a button to turn on the display, instead you simply tap the screen. Unfortunately, this often happens unconsciously or accidentally, causing your iPhone’s battery to drain faster. Therefore, disable this iPhone function for a longer battery life:

  1. Open ‘Settings’ on your iPhone;

  2. Go to ‘Accessibility’;

  3. Choose ‘Touch’;

  4. Turn off Tap or swipe to activate.

Have you disabled the feature? Then your iPhone will no longer turn on when you tap the screen. Instead, you have to press the side button on the device. This probably takes some time to get used to, but the disabled function does ensure a longer battery life for your iPhone. The screen now turns on much less often, which means your iPhone’s energy consumption is much lower. This means you don’t have to put the iPhone back on the charger as quickly.
