With the arrival of tvOS 26.4, your Apple TV will not only get new features and updates, but an app will also disappear – you need to know this.
This app will disappear from your Apple TV with tvOS 26.4
The app we are talking about is iTunes movies, with which you could always buy or rent films and series. The functions of this app have now been completely transferred to the Apple TV app. So you don’t have to worry about losing anything.
Apple wants the name iTunes has been phasing it out for some time, because you now use the Apple TV app for films and series and the Apple Music app for music. With the arrival of tvOS 26.4, Apple is completely removing the iTunes movies app from your Apple TV – the end of an era.

iTunes movies and iTunes wishlist
Although the iTunes Movies app will disappear when you update your Apple TV to tvOS 26.4, the movies you purchased in the past will not. You can find this neatly in the Apple TV app. However, you do lose something else.
In addition to the iTunes movies app, the iTunes wishlist app will also disappear in tvOS 26.4. The functionality has already been taken over by the Watchlist in the Apple TV app. However, you will no longer see your old iTunes wish list there after the update. If you want to keep that list, it is advisable to transfer it manually.
Your wish list will also disappear on your iPhone. If you still have films on there, you will receive a PDF from Apple by email containing all those films, including links. This way you can easily put them back on the watch list of the Apple TV app.
This is when you can expect tvOS 26.4
It is almost certain that tvOS 26.4 will not be released until the second half of March. Similar updates previously appeared in the middle or last week of March. A release in the week of March 23 or March 30 is therefore likely. Don’t want to miss any of it? Then sign up for our newsletter and we will automatically keep you informed!
