iPhone 17e has 3 important new features
The iPhone 17e is the latest budget iPhone and the successor to the iPhone 16e from 2025. The iPhone has a number of new features and improvements, but there are three that really stand out. We have listed them for you.
1. A19 chip
The iPhone 16e runs on an A18 chip, but the iPhone 17e has a latest-generation chip: the A19. This makes the iPhone 17e a lot faster and more energy efficient than its predecessor.
It is not exactly the same chip as the one in the iPhone 17. The A19 chip in the iPhone 17 has a 5-core GPU and the one in the iPhone 17e has a 4-core GPU. This means slightly slower graphics performance while gaming, but most people won’t notice a big difference. It’s not a downgrade either, because the A18 chip in the iPhone 16e also has a 4-core GPU.
2. Double the amount of storage space
The starting price of the iPhone 17e is 719 euros same as that of the iPhone 16e, but there is an important difference. With the iPhone 16e you paid this amount for the 128 GB version. The iPhone 17e is not available with 128 GB, so you get a whopping 256 GB for 719 euros – double that for the same money. You pay a lot more for an iPhone 17e with 512 GB: 969 euros.
3. MagSafe
The lack of MagSafe was the iPhone 16e’s biggest shortcoming, but on the iPhone 17e Apple added the feature. You can charge the iPhone 17e wirelessly faster than its predecessor (15 W instead of 7.5 W) and you can now also do all kinds of accessories that support MagSafe.
Other improvements
There are a few more features of the iPhone 17e that are worth mentioning. For starters, the new iPhone has the same C1X modem as the iPhone Air. This is up to 2x faster than the C1 modem in the iPhone 16e. Apple has also used Ceramic Shield 2 for a more scratch-resistant screen on the iPhone 17e.
Apple has also improved the camera’s portrait mode. According to Apple, the iPhone 17e recognizes people, dogs and cats, and automatically stores depth information so you can adjust the focus point afterwards. The iPhone 17e is also not only available in Black and White, like the iPhone 16e, but also in the new Soft Pink color.
