It looks like Apple will present one of the most ambitious iPhone lineups in years this fall, with the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the first foldable iPhone Ultra. While the Pro models will only receive an updated camera system and a faster A20 Pro chip, the Ultra will steal the show with a folding screen that looks more like a small iPad. But what does all this mean for recommended retail prices?
The exact prices of the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the foldable iPhone Ultra are not yet known, but analysts and rumors already give a first impression of the direction Apple is heading. In this article we list the most important expectations for you so that you can better estimate what to include in your budget.
iPhone 18 prices not yet official
Apple has not yet officially presented the iPhone 18 series at the time of writing, so all prices are indicative for the time being. Earlier this summer, Apple significantly increased the prices of several products such as the iPad, HomePod, Apple TV and Mac, due to the global shortage of memory chips.
It is therefore expected that the iPhone will increase in price, although the exact amount is not yet known. However, recent reports show that Apple is aiming for reasonable pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro, but it is almost certain that it will become more expensive.

For the iPhone 18 Pro Max, sources expect Apple to follow the same strategy as with previous generations, with the larger variant being noticeably more expensive than the standard Pro model but not overshooting with huge price steps. The real outlier is expected to be the foldable iPhone Ultra, for which several analysts mention a starting price around or above $ 2,000, which in Europe amounts to well above 2,000 euros.
A possible, cautious price expectation based on current rumors looks like this:
- iPhone 18 Pro: The probable starting price is around 1469 euros, while the iPhone 17 Pro has an entry price of € 1329.
- iPhone 18 Pro Max: Expected starting price of approximately 1599 euros; the current iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at €1479.
- iPhone Ultra (foldable): analysts expect a recommended retail price around or above $1,999, which means the Dutch price will probably be well above $2,200.
- iPhone 18: starting price around 1069 euros, the current iPhone 17 is sold from €969
NB: These are estimates based on rumors and Apple’s previous pricing strategies, not final amounts.
The iPhone 18 series in short
According to multiple sources, the iPhone 18 line will be released in two phases, with Apple first focusing on the top models. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the foldable iPhone Ultra are expected in the autumn of 2026, while the regular iPhone 18 and a new affordable variant (18e) would not follow until the spring of 2027.
The iPhone 18 Pro would have a 6.3-inch screen, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max would remain around 6.7 inches, as is now the case. Both models would have a smaller Dynamic Island because part of the Face ID sensors disappear under the screen, which provides a more modern-looking front. The foldable iPhone Ultra is rumored to combine a compact exterior with a 5.5-inch screen with a large interior that is close in size to an iPad mini. The Ultra gets a camera platform with two lenses (wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle lens), plus a selfie camera on both the outside and the inside.
All three devices are expected to be equipped with the new A20 Pro chip, produced using an advanced two-nanometer process, which should benefit both performance and battery life. Apple would also add its own C2 modem for better network performance and possibly more extensive satellite functions.
Will the iPhone 18 Pro and Ultra become more expensive?
The big question remains whether you will pay more for a new iPhone in 2026 than now. Analysts expect that Apple will try to keep the base price of the iPhone 18 Pro models as much as possible in line with the current generation, but that the company will play more with storage variants and increase the price per step. Due to higher costs for components, especially memory, a limited increase cannot be ruled out, especially if Apple wants to maintain margins.
Geopolitical developments, such as import duties and tariffs, are increasing the costs of electronics produced in China. Apple can choose to absorb these costs or pass them on in the sales price, for example by offering more expensive storage variants.
Almost everyone agrees that the iPhone Ultra will be the most expensive iPhone model to date. With an expected suggested retail price around or above $1,999 in the United States, and a complicated production with luxurious materials and a foldable screen, it is obvious that the price in the Netherlands will be well above 2,000 euros. Apple is clearly targeting a niche of enthusiasts and professionals who want to combine both a phone and a compact tablet in one device.
