For Hennessey Performance, a pick-up with a more than 700 hp 6.2 V8 is under-motorized, so the Texans pump the Ram 1500 TRX full of 1,217 trampling horses. To top it all off, the colossus is stretched to make room for an extra rear axle. We welcome: the Mammoth 6×6.
In mid-August, Ram lifted the 1500 TRX onto the podium, a fierce version of the 1500 that, thanks to the well-known 6.2 Hellcat V8, had 711 hp and 881 Nm of primitive primal power. As Hennessey Performance turns its nose to anything that does not cause a local landslide, it lifts the 1500 TRX to an absurdly high power level and presents the six-wheeled Mammoth 6×6.
Remarkably, the Mammoth 6×6 has to do without a Hellcat V8. Instead, Hennessey Performance scoops a 7.0-liter eight-cylinder into the RAM 1500 TRX it has dubbed ‘Hellephant’. The power is a bizarre 1,217 hp. As mentioned, the Ram 1500 TRX is stretched a lot to make room for an extra rear axle that makes the Mammoth 6×6 into a six-wheeled colossus.
It is not the first time that Hennessey Performance will deliver a six-wheel version of an American-made pick-up. The brand previously added the Velociraptor 6×6 and the Goliath 6×6 to its delivery range, models of which Hennessey Performance would produce 15 and 24 respectively. This Mammoth 6×6 is just a bit more exclusive with only three copies. The price tag: $ 500,000, which is about € 420,000. Hennessey Performance also sees the humor in his deranged project. “The Mammoth 6×6 is a completely ridiculous idea and that’s exactly why we’re doing this,” CEO John Hennessey said in a statement.
