You may have already heard about a serious leak in Windows 10. Microsoft has already released an update for that and it is advisable to install it as soon as possible. What is going on and what update do you need exactly?
None other than the American intelligence service NSA pointed out to Microsoft an error in the way Windows 10 checks whether programs come from legitimate owners. This works through certificates, a unique digital signature from the makers.
Malicious people could fiddle with the leak. The result may be that infected software is installed on your PC without alarm bells ringing within Windows. For the time being this does not seem to have happened. But Microsoft expects it to be exploited, now that information about the vulnerability is known.
So it is in your best interest to install the Windows 10 update that fixes this problem. We help you with that.
Install Windows 10 update KB4528760
The update that you specifically need is cumulative update KB4528760. This was released on January 13, 2020. It may be that it is already installed on your system automatically. You check this as follows. Go to Settings, Update and security. Then click View history of updates. You should then see the update again under the heading Quality updates.
If this is not the case, update Windows 10 manually. Go back a window and click Looking for updates. Also do this if you see the message that Windows is already up-to-date. You notice that a few updates are still being downloaded.
Let the process run and click Restart now to complete the installation procedure. Then look again at the settings of Windows Update, then you see the message Your PC has been updated. Can you sleep peacefully again!
