Rumors have been buzzing in the corridors that Tesla is coming with an extremely fast new version of the Model S. That car has now been officially presented. The new Tesla Model S Plaid is quirky in every way.
The Tesla Model S has always been an EV that managed to put supercar-worthy sprint figures on paper. The entry-level version is now the Long Range, a basic version equipped with two electric motors that sprints to a speed of 100 km / h in just 3.8 seconds. Above that is the Performance, until recently the top version that should be able to complete the famous 0-100 sprint in 2.5 seconds. The all-new top version is the Tesla Model S Plaid, a 1,100 hp freak version that sprints to a speed of 100 km / h in 2.1 seconds. This makes it one of the fastest accelerating production models ever. Its top speed is just as bizarre: 320 km / h. This makes the Model S Plaid considerably faster than the Performance, which kicks it up to 261 km / h. The Tesla Model S Plaid does not get its power from two, but from three electric motors!
Tesla has not yet reported the size of the battery pack of the Tesla Model S Plaid. The brand does speak of an expected WLTP range of, and now it comes, more than 840 kilometers. The Tesla Model S Plaid has an expected Dutch starting price of € 139,990. This makes it 40 grand more expensive than the Tesla Model S Performance, but also a lot more extreme. Delivery of the Tesla Model S Plaid is planned for the end of 2021.
More information and more detailed specifications will follow at a later time. In any case, the Tesla Model S Plaid can already be ordered in the Dutch configurator. However, a deposit of € 1,000 is required.
