Beijing is currently hosting the Auto China motor show, where Audi introduced the Q5 Sportback to the European market. That car is coming to the Chinese car market in extended form: this is the Audi Q5L Sportback!
Unfortunately for Audi, a day before the unveiling of the Q5 Sportback, the first photos of the version of that Coupé SUV as it comes on the market in China appeared. In general, the now officially presented Chinese version is identical to the brand new European model, with one big difference.
The Chinese consumer has a preference for extra centimeters of legroom for the rear passengers, and so Audi only supplies the current Q5 as Q5L, with an almost 9 centimeters longer wheelbase. It is therefore that Q5L that serves as the basis for the Chinese Q5 Sportback. The Q5L Sportback is 4.78 meters long, about 11 centimeters longer than the one intended for our continent. The wheelbase is 2.91 meters identical to that of the Q5L.
Audi Q5L Sportback
The Q5L Sportback to be produced by the Chinese joint venture Audi-FAW will for the time being only be available with a blown 2.0 TFSI with 187 hp and with a 217 hp version of the same two-liter.
