Dodge has updated the Durango. The competitor of cars like the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Ford Explorer is not only going under the knife on the outside, but also on the inside. The Durango is not available in the Netherlands, but that does not make the SUV any less interesting.
Dodge is lord and master of the successful squeezing of old models. The Durango dates back to 2010 and is now under the knife for the umpteenth time. Believe it or not, at ten years old, the Durango is the youngest Dodge to offer in the United States. The current Challenger came on the market in 2011, but that car still shares its platform with its predecessor presented in 2006. What does the rest of Dodge’s delivery range look like? The brand has the Challenger launched in 2008 and the Journey and Grand Caravan only available from stock on the American menu. The Journey was also delivered in the Netherlands until 2011, nine years ago. We also know the Grand Caravan in the Netherlands. After all, it was delivered here until 2016 as Lancia Voyager and before as Chrysler. Back to the Durango, the latest Dodge model is being modernized.
Dodge Durango (2010-2013)
The more than 5 meter long Durango gets a renewed muzzle where new, flatter headlights with a new layout together with a renewed grille define the image. The grille is optically pushed in at the bottom by the also renewed front bumper. The adjustments at the back are negligible. More interesting is the dashboard, which is completely overhauled. Dodge gives the Durango a completely new dashboard, although the steering wheel, the door panels and the center tunnel remain unchanged. The infotainment screen is a lot wider with a diameter of 10.1 inches and is accompanied by new ventilation grilles on both the left and right sides. The complete knitting of buttons under the inforainment screen is new, the same applies to the instruments and the ventilation grilles.
Dodge delivers the renewed Durango with 299 hp and 353 Nm strong 3.6 V6 and with a 5.7 V8 that coughs up 365 hp and 529 Nm. Above that is a 6.4 V8 with a power of 644 hp and 637 Nm, powerful enough to drive the Durango to 100 km / h in about 4.5 seconds. Does it stop there? Well, no. Purely and only in model year 2021, Dodge will deliver a mighty Durango SRT Hellcat. Indeed, with 720 hp and 875 Nm strong Hellcat V8 that Dodge also spooned into the Challenger and Charger. The most powerful Durango thus sprints to a speed of 100 km / h in about 3.5 seconds and thunders on until the speedometer is at 290 km / h. Something special is going on with that Durango SRT Hellcat. That absolutely insane version was already presented earlier this year and was already overloaded with the new front and the new interior that is now also refreshing the rest of the Durango range. The starting price of the Duango with 3.6 V6 is converted to around € 26,200. The mighty Durango SRT Hellcat is converted from € 68,500 from owner. In the Netherlands you don’t even have a 252 hp BMW X3 for that …
