New Mercedes-Benz C-class ready for 2021

Next year Mercedes-Benz will park a completely new-generation C-class at the dealers. Which seems to be entirely as expected to be interspersed with influences from big brother S-class.

It is a common complaint about the current Mercedes-Benz sedan offering. The C, E and S class look very similar to each other. However, it does not look like Mercedes-Benz will suddenly adopt a completely different design strategy in the near future. Spy photos showing a packed new C-Class Sedan confirm that this 2021 model will be a shrunken version of the latest S-Class. The Matryoshka policy remains intact.

The new S-class is topped with a further developed version of the relatively classic design language that we know from the previous model and the C-class also seems to undergo that treatment. The significantly more squeezed headlights are a bit higher in the front and the grille seems to drop slightly. As with the facelifted E-class and the new S-class, the rear lights will soon be more wide. The C-class Sedan in these pictures will of course be joined by an Estate. What Mercedes-Benz is planning with the C-class Coupé and Cabrio versions is still unclear. In any case, it will no longer be as big as the Coupé and Cabrio range was until recently. The question is whether the Coupé and Cabrio flavors will only be cut out in the S-class.

The new C-class is on a further developed version of the current MRA platform. In any case, count on a larger range of plug-in hybrids and more versions with mild hybrid technology. There is also a lot to happen at AMG level. Both the six-cylinder of the C43 and the eight-cylinder of the C63’s are reported to be replaced by a four-cylinder with electric assistance. We will only learn more about this after the launch of the new C-Class.
