Mercedes-Benz is testing in the high and cold north with a fairly hefty electric SUV that is coming from the brand. The ‘EQE SUV’, as we will call it for the time being.
Although our spy photographer speaks about the ‘EQS SUV’, it seems a size too small for us. Last summer, the same car was also spotted under sunnier conditions and we even doubted whether it is not the successor to the EQC. However, the car looks a bit too big for that, so we keep it for the time being that we have the ‘EQE SUV’ in front of us. An SUV that comes in addition to the EQE, for those who prefer to look a little higher. An electrically powered alternative to the GLE, too.
Logically, it shares its basis with the EQE and that means that it is on the new modular EV platform from Mercedes-Benz. This EVA base (Electric Vehicle Architecture) offers space for various configurations and electric powertrains. For the EQE SUV, carefully count on a battery pack of around 90 kWh and a range of around 500 km. In terms of power, it will operate up to approximately the 500 hp regions, although all this is of course still a cautious estimate. We probably won’t know for sure for a long time, as we’re aiming for a disclosure by the end of 2021.
