It’s one of the most annoying things in the modern world: not being able to get to the number that’s stuck in your head. Fortunately, Google now already knows what to do with it and the Google app can help you find out the song that rings in your head. The new function is baked into the official Search application. You can hum, whistle, or make all kinds of other sounds to find out what song it is you are trying to portray. Keep in mind that the results may not always be accurate, but in many cases you will get the answer to your question.
This is how Google can help you
So you need the official Google application for this. This is the same app that keeps track of news for you through a feed, completes your search, and helps you set up other devices. You can find the app on iPhone, iPad and Android. At the top right is a microphone icon. If you tap on it, you can say a search query, for example. Don’t do that just yet and instead press the Search a song suggestion at the bottom left. Now you can start imitating the melody.
The funny thing about this function is that you can also just turn on music: for example, you have a kind of built-in Shazam function in your Google app, one that is just a bit more extensive than the Shazam app. Whether you sing, hum, whistle or play the song in the background yourself, the Google app will present the findings over time. Is the number you are looking for not listed? Then you can tap the button at the bottom for more results. It is also possible that Google cannot find a match. Then you can tap the on-screen button to try again.
You can also tap on the results shown to see if this is the song you are looking for. On the next page it is possible to hear the song on Spotify, YouTube or Deezer. If you scroll further, you will also see all kinds of search results for that number.
