Dark advantage: Kia Sportage Black Edition

Kia shows a little creative side with the Kia Sportage Black Edition. It offers the obligatory black accents, but there is actually some benefit involved.

From a Renault Trafic to a Porsche 911 and from a Toyota Auris to a Bentley Continental GT: the ‘Black Edition’ is a proven way to showcase a model. Apparently the temptation of a car that is completely in lease black is not resistable for many, because car manufacturers continue to apply this concept time and again.

Similarly Kia. The Sportage Black Edition offers in the field of ‘black’, among other things, a dark grille, black roof rails, high-gloss black accents in the front and rear bumper and – that is special – dark logos. The wheels are also completely black, although at 17 inches they are certainly not overly large for a car like this.

Thankfully, the Sportage Black Edition’s story goes beyond taking away some contrast. The car seems to be based on the already quite richly equipped DynamicPlusline, but adds the necessary things to it. For example, LED headlights, leather upholstery and JBL audio are standard on the Black Edition, which also offers a panoramic roof, UVO-connect infotainment, numerous safety aids, heated seats and an electric tailgate. The Black Edition is only available in combination with the 1.6 T-GDi with 177 hp and a DCT7 automatic transmission and costs € 41,895. That is a bit more than a DynamicPlusLine, but according to Kia still delivers € 1,500 in benefit.

A carriage in black is not compulsory.
