In addition to the new Leon for the street, Cupra today also presents its models for the coming racing season. In addition to the already expected Leon Competición, there is a fully electric cannon for the ETCR class ready.
The Cupra Competición can be seen as the successor to the earlier Cupra TCR racer. Of course, the newcomer carries the entire new Leon carriage, where the first generation of this racing car was the only Leon of the previous generation with the Cupra “tribal” in the grille. The new TCR racer can be used by private teams in the World Touring Car Cup and other racing classes. The two liter four-cylinder in the front is even more powerful than in the just-presented street-Leons and delivers 340 hp and 410 Nm. The sprint from 0 to 100 is thus in 4.5 beats behind, the top is 260 km / h. Of course the entire car has been heavily modified for circuit use. The chassis is fully adjustable, everything superfluous has gone overboard and heavy spoiler work ensures optimum aerodynamics.
e-Racer
The Cupra Leon e-Racer (photo 3) is completely electric and considerably more powerful than the Competición. The car is Cupra’s weapon in the new ETCR class, in which Hyundai, among others, will also appear at the start later this year. Just like all other participating cars, the electric Leon is supplied with four electric motors, good for a total of 680 hp and 960 Nm. A battery pack of 65 kWh provides the required energy. Cupra is also responsible for the carriage and chassis, with which drivers Mattias Ekström and Jordi Gené can count on an optimally adjusted weapon, according to the Spaniards.
