The English coachbuilder Fifteen Eleven Design is working on a restomod based on the VW-Porsche 914. It promises to be quite a party song.
The Volkswagen-Porsche 914 has received more recognition and interest in recent years. The compact sports car, originally intended as a model under the 911, has increased in value considerably. The original 914 is not very fast, however: the fastest variant was the 914/6, which sprints to 100 in 8.7 seconds thanks to its 110 hp two-liter six-cylinder boxer engine. For this restomod, Fifteen Eleven Design thought it necessary to do something about it. The company teamed up with Mellors Elliot Motorsport. The suspension and braking system are being addressed, in addition, the 914 gets the 3.4-liter six-cylinder boxer from the Cayman S under the hood. How much power that block will deliver is not yet known, but count on at least 325 hp. Thanks to the manual six-speed gearbox, you will also have to work yourself to make something beautiful out of it.
In addition to the thorough technical adjustments, the 914 is also cosmetically overhauled. From now on there is LED lighting at the front and the fenders have been further knocked out. The folding headlights have had to leave the field. Furthermore, the computer sketches include 18-inch Fuchs wheels under the car. Fifteen Eleven has no photo material of the back, but it is obvious that the light units there will also be overhauled. Also nice: the targa roof is made of glass.
Fifteen Eleven Design is no stranger to the restoration and modification of classics and young timers. Previously, the company had already thoroughly overhauled a Ford Escort MkI (photo 5) and restored a Maserati 3500 GT (photo 4). The order books for the VW Porsche 914 have now been opened. It is not known what it will cost.
