Greenwheels is expanding outside of Randstad

Car-sharing provider Greenwheels has now installed its two-thousandth car-sharing in the Netherlands and wants to grow further. The company is working hard on an expansion outside the Randstad.

Most Greenwheels cars can currently be found in major cities, with Amsterdam at the forefront. People think that this should be different. The fleet is now also being expanded outside the Randstad. Last year, for example, vehicles were placed for the first time in Sneek, Harlingen, Leimuiden, Weert, Stein, Oosterhout, Beek-Ubbergen and Doorn in Brabant. In the first quarter of this year, Greenwheels expects to install 120 new cars throughout the country. Last year, 313 new shared cars were installed, bringing the total to over 2,000 shared cars.

To be precise, 2,050 Greenwheels shared cars were driving around the Netherlands at the end of December. Shared cars that companies use exclusively for their employees are not included. That was 787 vehicles. The number of Greenwheels users also increased significantly, by 35 percent. Among existing users, Greenwheels also saw the average duration of a trip increase significantly last year, partly due to corona.

Greenwheels uses Volkswagen cars for its services. It offers the Volkswagen Up for mainly urban use. You can go electrically with the e-Golf. Those who want more space or options can choose the previous Golf Variant. Finally, there is also the choice for the Volkswagen Caddy, for those who need a van.
