Name of child in accident as a key ring for drunk drivers

In Belgium, a campaign is being launched to push intoxicated drivers even more to the facts. They are given the name of an accident child as a key ring to take home.

We know of course the Bob campaign, where you can get a keychain with Bob on it if you blow 0 percent at an alcohol check. In Belgium they now come with a counterpart to it. Anyone who falls through the basket during an alcohol check will now also receive a key ring. That is the name of a child who was killed by a motorist who used alcohol in traffic.

There are various names, each with their own story behind it. We see Nathan, Corwin, Romine and Axelle, among others. On the campaign site, Nonbob.be, the accompanying stories can be seen, told by next of kin. Behind every name is a broken family, like Axelle, who was hit by a car on a crosswalk with her mother at the age of three. The driver, under the influence of drugs and drink, fled. Axelle and her mother did not survive.

The action is an initiative of Parents of Verongelukte Children and road safety organization Vias. Anyone who receives such a key ring at an alcohol check can hand it in on the aforementioned site. In return, Vias offers an ‘awareness-raising course’. This, of course, is in addition to all other penalties. The parents of children who have been killed in an accident hope that in the end, the key ring of everything will stick with the people who bump into the lamp for the longest time.
