The current generation of the Porsche Cayenne is almost half its lifespan, so it is time for a facelift. Zuffenhausen is quite striking at the front.
If we compare the third generation of the Porsche Cayenne in terms of lifespan to its predecessors, it now has almost half on it. The generation that appeared in 2017 is probably waiting for a facelift late this year and we are now getting the first glimpse of it. Although not all photos are equally sharp, it is clear that Porsche has firmly drawn the eraser over the current design, especially at the front. The headlamps are clearly different in shape. They run less far back on the nose and therefore look a bit wider than before. A significant change in style from what we are used to from the Cayenne.
At the back, the Germans put a little more effort into hiding the novelties. It is therefore difficult to say what happens there. It is not inconceivable that here too the lighting will be overhauled, although it probably only concerns a slightly different layout of the units. Just like at the front, expect a slightly modified bumper.
The Cayenne has done Zuffenhausen no harm, after all the millionth was built at the end of 2020. Yet it could well be that the recipe for the Cayenne will be further overhauled after this facelift. For the next generation, Porsche will probably bring fully electric drive to the model, as Porsche is already working on an electric Macan. Don’t be surprised if Porsche bases the Cayenne on the same PPE platform intended for larger EVs. For the time being, for fans of hefty and powerful combustion engines, there is at least the facelifted Cayenne to look forward to.
