Lorinser Classic turns military Puch G into a pick-up

We mainly know Lorinser as a tuner, but the German company also has a department in the form of Lorinser Classic that is engaged in the restoration (and conversion) of classic models. Lorinser Classic has now completed a quite remarkable new project, a unique ‘Puch G’ transformed into a pick-up.

In the Netherlands we know the G-class as Mercedes-Benz, of course, but between 1979 and 2000 the G-class was sold as Puch G in various countries in Eastern Europe, but also in Austria and Switzerland. After all, Puch, which was a big name in the off-road field in these markets, was already involved in the G-class project from the start. Lorinser Classic, part of Mercedes tuner Lorinser, converted a Puch G230 GE delivered to the Swiss army in 1993 into a pick-up.

Lorinser Classic has managed to acquire a considerable fleet of Puch’s G that were previously in the service of the Swiss armed forces. Lorinser sold part of it in its original condition while a single copy was transformed into a camper van. The Puch G, now converted into a pick-up, which has a starting price of € 53,000, was first completely disassembled. Lorinser Classic has repaired the sheet metal where necessary and gives the G with a lockable loading box a new matt green paint. Lorinser Classic couldn’t resist modernizing the Puch G. That is why we find LED technology in the spotlight, but the interior remains completely authentic except for the arrival of Alcantara-covered seats. Lorinser Classic puts the Puch G on 16-inch steel wheels with all-terrain tires from BFGoodrich around it. The technology is also not tinkered with. This Puch G230 GE retains its 116 hp 2.3 four-cylinder, a machine that distributes its power over all wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. It provides special viewing food.
