Flitsmeister also available for Android Auto

The popular Flitsmeister app, which keeps you informed about speed cameras and special traffic situations, will be available for Android Auto.

Flitsmeister has released a beta version of its app for Android Auto. Via the Flitsmeister website Android users can sign up for the beta version of the app. Once it has been downloaded from the Google Play Store, it is possible to show Flitsmeister on the infotainment screen by connecting the phone via USB or bluetooth. The Android Auto version combines a navigation system with data from the regular app, such as warnings for speed cameras, speed cameras and section controls.

Users can give feedback on the beta version via the forum of Flitsmeister. It is not yet known when support for Android Auto will come out of beta and become definitive. According to Flitsmeister, it is up to Google when that will happen. “Google is working on a version that is not finished yet,” said the developer. Incidentally, Flitsmeister has been working on Android Auto’s counterpart, Apple Carplay, for a while.

Anyone who also hopes to avoid the new ‘smart cameras’ that register telephone use behind the wheel will be disappointed. Flitsmeister recently indicated that it will not report it. The company finds this ‘ethically irresponsible’ and believes there is an essential difference between reporting speed cameras and cameras that register something dangerous such as not paying attention to the road.
