Volkswagen Arteon plug-in hybrid on the price list

The Volkswagen Arteon price list now also includes a plug-in hybrid variant: the eHybrid. With a system power of 218 hp, this powertrain is slightly milder than Volkswagen’s 245 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain. The addition of the eHybrid also means that the new Arteon has a lower starting price than before.

The fact that the Arteon is now on the market as a plug-in hybrid is not new in itself. In mid-2020, the eHybrid was already announced with the model’s facelift. The Arteon eHybrid has the same powertrain as in the Golf eHybrid, which means that a combination of a 1.4 TSI and an electric motor provides a system power of 218 hp. It accelerates to 100 km / h in 7.8 seconds and at 222 km / h the cake is over. The electric range is 61 kilometers and at a public charging point or a wallbox it takes about 3.5 hours to fully charge the 10.5 kWh battery. The Arteon eHybrid is available from € 48,990, the Shooting Brake costs € 49,690. That is € 2,000 less for both variants than the 190 hp 2.0 TSI, previously the cheapest variant of the renewed Arteon.

For that money you get the Arteon eHybrid as R-Line Business +, which means that it comes standard with things like R-Line styling, 18-inch alloy wheels, the navigation system ‘Discover Media’, Keyless Entry and an electric tailgate. Remarkably enough, Volkswagen gives the Arteon eHybrid the 218 hp strong powertrain, while the Tiguan eHybrid has 245 hp under the hood. It is not inconceivable that the Arteon will later get this more powerful powertrain in the form of a GTE, but Volkswagen has not yet released anything about that. That would in any case be a similar approach as with the Golf, where both a 204 hp eHybrid and 245 hp GTE are on the price list.

The Arteon eHybrid can be ordered immediately.
