Canceling an Apple Music subscription: this is how you do it in 5 steps

Are you nearing the end of your trial subscription, or are you switching to another music service? Then canceling Apple Music is done in no time, if you know where to look.

Since 2015, Apple Music has emerged as a formidable competitor to Spotify. In the Netherlands, many music lovers have already taken out a subscription to Apple’s service, but that does not mean that they will stay this forever.

If you want to cancel your Apple Music subscription, this is done in a minute, although the function is a bit hidden. You can end your subscription by following the steps below. All you need is an iPhone or iPad that you are signed in with with your Apple ID.

This is how you cancel your Apple Music subscription on:

1. Open the Music app on your iPhone or iPad;
2. Tap the ‘For you’ tab;
3. Now select your account by tapping on your avatar at the top right;
4. In the next window, tap ‘Manage subscription’;
5. You can cancel Apple Music in the screen that now appears.

Your subscription now remains valid until the end of the month, or the day your subscription originally started. That way, the month you still paid for will be neatly completed and the subscription will then be terminated. You don’t have to do anything else for that.

Not a free version of Apple Music

Unlike Spotify, Apple Music does not have a free version. Canceling your membership therefore means that you no longer have access to the offer of the service.
