You can add multiple payment cards to Apple Pay. This is useful when you have several bills, but always want to pay contactless. This is how you change and remove payment cards in Apple Pay.
Change and remove Apple Pay payment card
When setting up Apple Pay, you add a debit card to the Wallet. This will be your default card for making contactless payments. If you’ve added multiple passes, follow these steps to change the default card.
This is how you change the Apple Pay payment card on an iPhone or iPad:
- Go to ‘Settings’ and choose ‘Wallet and Apple Pay’;
- Scroll down and tap on ‘Transaction Preferences’;
- Select ‘Default card’ and choose a new card.

You can also change the default card via the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. To do this, go to the ‘My Watch’ tab, choose ‘Wallet and Apple Pay’ and then ‘Standard card’. Choose the pass that you want to use as a standard card from now on.
Change Apple Pay Payment Card on Mac
It works about the same on your computer. How to change an Apple Pay payment card on Mac:
- Go to ‘System Preferences’ via the apple at the top left of the screen;
- Select Wallet & Apple Pay and choose a new card in the Default Card window.
Remove payment card in Apple Pay
Did your bank card break, do you have a new one or have you lost it? Then you must, in addition to having the old card blocked, if necessary, add the new card to Apple Pay. At that moment your old card is no longer useful and that is why it is time to deactivate it.
This is how you remove a payment card in Apple Pay on your iPhone or iPad:
- Go to the Settings app and tap ‘Wallet and Apple Pay’;
- Choose the card you want to remove and scroll down;
- Tap ‘Delete card’.
You can also remove a payment card itself in the Wallet app. To do this, choose a card, tap the three dots (options), scroll down and choose ‘Remove card’.

You can also delete Apple Pay cards on a Mac. To do this, follow these directions.
Here’s how to remove an Apple Pay payment card on your Mac:
- Open ‘System Preferences’ via the apple at the top left;
- Select ‘Wallet and Apple Pay’ and click on the card you want to remove;
- Then press the minus sign (-) to permanently delete the debit card.
Do you use the payment card on an Apple Watch? Then you can also deactivate it in this way.
Remove an Apple Pay payment card from an Apple Watch:
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone;
- Go to the ‘My Watch’ tab and scroll down,
- Tap on ‘Wallet and Apple Pay’ and choose the card you want to remove;
- Scroll down and select Remove Card.
