Facebook lets you live stream together and chat more easily

Facebook has considerably expanded its Live feature. In addition to private chats with public live streams, you can also do one live stream with several people after the latest update.

This brings the Facebook Live update

According to Facebook, live streams attract ten times more comments than regular videos. That means the chat experience during a major live stream can be quite chaotic. Especially streams that tens of thousands of people watch at once often have chats that go too fast to have a real conversation.

Facebook is introducing Live Chat with Friends for this, which means that you can watch a live stream with your friends. You can then chat with only your friends, without messages getting lost in a large stream of comments. The feature is still being tested in various countries at the time of writing, but will be released to everyone in the summer.

The update brings more things to do with friends. Consider the option to live stream with a friend. While streaming you can select a guest from the list of viewers, who will then appear in your livestream with a camera. For this you can choose a picture-in-picture mode, where the guest appears in the corner, or place two screens next to each other.

The feature is useful for interviews and segments where a guest adds something useful to the stream. When you have finished the interview, you can easily turn off the feature. For the time being, the feature is only available in the app; on Mac and PC it doesn’t work yet.
