The NS Travel Planner Xtra app is ready for version 5.0, which will bring a lot of improvements. The app has a new design and puts more emphasis on notifications.
NS Travel Planner Xtra app completely renewed
When you open the popular travel app, you immediately see that a lot has changed. The hamburger menu has made way for a bar at the bottom, which allows you to switch between the functions of the application much faster. At the bottom you will find the journey planner, the overview of stations, your set journeys and current disruptions. Especially nice is that the planning and display of trips now takes place on the same screen. Previously, you had to switch between screens to adjust your journey.
An important innovation is the presence of widgets, which you can see on the home screen below the travel planner. By default there is a widget to check the weather, but you can also add two frequently used stops to immediately see when the next train or bus is running. According to the developers of the NS Travel Planner Xtra app, more widgets will be added in the future, for example to show routes.
The malfunction screen has also been refurbished. Current disruptions are displayed more clearly, where you can also view planned disruptions (such as work). If you see a malfunction that is relevant to you, tap the button to receive notifications, so that you stay informed of the latest developments.
Trajectory monitoring and more
The renewed Travel Planner app also focuses on route monitoring. This means that you add a route, and then see what time and which trains or buses are running. After this, you choose a time range and the days when you travel on the route. The Travel Planner app will then send you notifications if there is a delay.
From now on you will also find the current times, GPS position and information of bus stops in the app. A bus radar has been added, with which you can check on a map in real time where the bus is at that moment. This works in the same way as the train radar, which is no longer included in this version of the app.
